Reflective Lenses

Dr. Viktor Vasylyev is the head of the solar energy department at the Institute for Electromagnetic Research. The developed technology is an optical innovation for concentrating sunlight using arrays of reflective lens. The solar collectors use new multi-element schemes of several isolated concave mirrors with common focal zone, shaped on the collector rear side like a lens. Such a “lens-like” mode of functioning of this type of solar collectors radically simplifies the design of high-heat solar modules, as well as their mounting and maintenance. In comparison with conventional high-heat solar concentrating collectors, the devices have the following advantages: (1) record concentration levels of sunlight, (2) capability to adapt to various type of receivers, (3) manufacturing ease in mass production and (4) low total weight.
