Two Stage Combustion with Vortex Ejection of Producer Gas

Dr. Artem Khalatov currently heads the Department of Thermo-Gas Dynamics at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IET NASU). Dr. Sergiy Kobzar is a senior researcher at IET NASU. Their team’s innovation is a vortex ejector, which is used to supply oxygen for two stage biomass or biomass fuel combustion. The primary chamber of the two stage combustion engine operates under vacuum, and that prevents smoke from entering the room at the initial stage. A vortex ejector provides effective turbulent mixing of the producer gas and secondary air for burning in the secondary chamber. The advantages of the technology are its low level of carbon monoxide emission, complete combustion, and good volumetric burning.
